RECRUITMENT DATES February 26, 2007 - March 9, 2007.

SALARY $59,259 - $88,296 annualized.

EXPERIENCE Requires three years of professional water industry experience including two years of progressively responsible management or supervisory experience in a water utility and a bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, engineering, or a related field. Experience in the management, operation and maintenance of multiple water and/or wastewater treatment plants is highly preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

DUTIES This position assists the Water Production Superintendent with the overall direction, management, and supervision of the City's five water treatment plants and one water reclamation plant. Responsibilities include coordinating, planning, and implementing the programs and initiatives of the Water Production Division; applying professional management and technical knowledge to the solution of problems related to the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the treatment plants; and continuously evaluating business practices and organizational functionality in the interests of efficiency and improvement. In addition, this position assists the Water Superintendent in managing a staff of 168 employees and a division budget of approximately $74 million. Currently there is one vacancy in the Water Services Department, Water Production Division.

ALSO REQUIRED All positions in this classification require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess an appropriate valid Arizona driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record. Working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, and on-call may be required. Must possess a Grade 4 Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Operator certification within one year from date of hire. If you possess certification from another state or jurisdiction, please contact Arizona Department of Environmental Quality for Arizona Request for Operator Certification Reciprocity procedures and certification equivalency (www.azdeq.gov). In addition, this position must be available, on a 24 hour basis, to respond to emergency situations.

RESIDENCE Maricopa County residency is required within 24 months after the date of hire and must be maintained.
