Title: Purchasing Agent, Essex County, New Jersey Salary: $42,543 - $84,000 Job Description: The Purchasing Agent establishes or maintains an existing system to purchase all items required by the various Departments to perform their duties. Supervision of the Office of Purchasing which includes: the reviewing of requisitions, locating suitable, reputable sources for supplies, preparing and reviewing bid specifications; receiving and accepting bids, reviewing submitted bids. Prepares periodic reports and attend Freeholder meetings when required. Additional duties include responsibility for the collection, sale and disposal of surplus property; developing and installing a comprehensive inventory and control system for all equipment. Interacts with all Department and Division Directors. The Purchasing Agent also serves as the Division Director.
Requirements: Education and experience commensurate with the job duties. Familiarity with N.J. State Purchasing statute preferred. Excellent administrative and interpersonal skills required. Applicant should reside in Essex County or commit to reside in Essex County within 12 months of hiring.
