Techncial Specialist G11/Traffic Engineer: Assist and provide support in Sarasota County's Traffic Engineering and Operations system. This covers all facets of engineering and operations of a dynamic traffic department that is responsible for a fast growing suncoast metropolitan area. Salary: $47,049.60 to $59,633.60 plus excellent benefits.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the engineering fields, or related field plus two years of professional engineering work (versus technical) and Engineering-in-Training Certificate. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the Engineering fields or related fields may substitute for one year of the required experience. A Doctorate' s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the Engineering fields may substitute for an additional year of the required experience. One-two years of additional experience may substitute for the required EIT.

In the event that we do not find qualified candidates, we may elect to underfill this position at the level of Technical Specialist (Tranffic Engineer) G10, which has a pay range of $40,872-$51,521.60. Qualifications for this class are Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/univ in one of the engineering fields, or related field.

Technical Specialist/Engineer Trainee: We have a Professional Development Engineer Program (PDEP). The PEDP help prepares recent (ABET accredited) graduates in engineering for a career as a Professional Engineer by providing hands-on experience in different civil engineering fields within Sarasota County Government. Candidates rotate through several divisions including Transportation Planning, Drainage Operations, Traffic Operations, Road & Bridge, Road Program Management and Development Services. Rotation based on the participant's interests and business center needs. Successful Technical Specialist's are eligible to receive performance merit increases and may be promoted to a position upon successful completion of specific program criteria. The starting wage is $17.99-$22.82/hour.
