RECRUITMENT DATES February 20, 2007 - March 16, 2007.

SALARY $50,918 - $76,045 annualized.

EXPERIENCE Requires four years of experience in the operation and process control activities of a water OR wastewater treatment plant OR waster distribution system and a bachelor's degree in sanitary, civil, chemical engineering, or a related field OR eight years experience in operation and process control activities. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

DUTIES Directs the process control activities of the City's water OR wastewater treatment plants OR water distribution systems by evaluating performance, operating reports, and laboratory tests. Responsibilities include monitoring plant or system performance, operations and maintenance procedures and activities, evaluating plant or system conditions, and making process control decisions. Additional duties include reviews process control operation through inspection of plant or system records, technical data, operating reports, and graphic charts; develops the application of process control procedures to increase efficiency of plant or system operations; advises on all matters pertaining to plant or system process control operation to ensure the economical functioning of plant facilities or distribution system and chemical and electrical usage efficiency and effectiveness without risking a discharge permit exceedance or Safe Drinking Water Act violation; coordinates operational strategies with the Water Facilities Supervisor; and reviews, recommends and assists in the implementation of new monitoring/control instrumentation. Currently there is one vacancy in Wastewater Treatment.

ALSO REQUIRED All positions in this classification require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess an appropriate valid Arizona driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record. Working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required. Must acquire the appropriate Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 4 operator's certification within one year from date of hire.

RESIDENCE Maricopa County residency is required within 24 months after the date of hire and must be maintained.
